Job Description

Acciona has been awarded the contract for the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase of the Eyre Peninsula desalination project. Acciona will be undertaking further investigations at the proposed desalination plant location of Billy Lights Point over the coming months to support SA Water in developing the detailed design of land and marine infrastructure as part of the project.

As a result of this, Acciona Agua is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Manager to oversee the procurement of office and construction products and services for the Eyre Peninsula Desalination Project in Adelaide, South Australia. The successful candidate will ensure cost-efficient procurement activities in line with Acciona's systems, procedures, and standards.

Key accountabilities for the position

1) Procurement Strategy and Planning:
  • Develop and implement procurement policies, strategies, and processes that support organizational goals.
  • Analyze market trends and supply chain dynamics to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Provide expert advice on procurement planning, risk management, and supplier selection.

2) Contract and Supplier Management:
  • Lead the negotiation, drafting, and management of supplier contracts to ensure compliance and value delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to foster collaboration and innovation.
  • Monitor supplier performance against agreed-upon metrics and resolve disputes or performance issues effectively.

3) Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs and provide solutions that align with organizational priorities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, offering insights and recommendations on procurement-related matters.

4) Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Ensure procurement practices comply with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Identify and mitigate procurement risks, including supply chain disruptions and contract liabilities.

5) Team Leadership and Mentorship:
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to procurement staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct training sessions to enhance organizational procurement capabilities.
Required Skills and Competencies

Required Skills
  • Relevant tertiary qualification strongly preferred but not essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others.
  • Proficiency in demand estimation, category profiling, sourcing, supplier negotiations, benchmarking, supplier management, and supplier development.
  • Competent in relevant in-house systems and software, including MS Excel, MS Word, and email.
  • Experience with various Electronic Document Management Systems.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in procurement, preferably in an engineering, construction, project, or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to execute large procurement programs from concept through implementation.
  • Strong commercial acumen with proven negotiation and inter-relationship skills.
