Job description

Our client, a leader in the raw marerials manufacturing sector, is currently seeking a Category Manager to join their team. This permanent role offers a dynamic environment, combining three days in the office with two days of remote work weekly. This role is critical in managing and optimising direct procurement categories to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and executing category strategies for direct procurement
  • Identifying and engaging with key suppliers to build strong relationships
  • Conducting market analysis to identify trends and opportunities
  • Negotiating contracts and agreements to achieve the best commercial terms
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business objectives
  • Managing supplier performance and resolving any issues that may arise
  • Implementing cost-saving initiatives and ensuring continuous improvement
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry developments and best practices

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in procurement, specifically in direct category management
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct comprehensive market analysis
  • Proven negotiation skills and commercial acumen
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Understanding of procurement processes and contract management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid working environment
