The Buyer is a dynamic, fast-paced role at the heart of our supply chain operations. You will be responsible for sourcing, operations, and the development of supply chains to meet cost, service, and strategic goals. This role requires a strong collaborator who works seamlessly with cross-functional teams and plays a critical role in optimizing outsourced manufacturing operations. Exceptional organizational skills are essential, as the ideal candidate must manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring effective communication across all channels. Timely delivery of purchase orders is vital, as it supports our ability to meet customer expectations and achieve business objectives. As a leader in continuous improvement, you will drive efficiencies, foster strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams, and contribute to the overall success of the company's operations and supply chain.

Unique to this role is that all manufacturing is outsourced, making this position a key driver in the company's success and growth as we continue to refine and optimize our operations and supply chain.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Proactively monitor KPIs to drive efficiencies and deliver world class operational support to internal and external customers.
  • Maintain effective product/component supplier relationships.
  • Support investigation of new suppliers and new sources of materials by interviewing and selecting vendors according to company needs and expectations.
  • Understand markets for commodities, including existing and potential sources of supply with the ability to favorably influence market dynamics and mitigate market risk.
  • Support periodic assessment of supplier quality and delivery performance to ensure that purchased parts, materials, and/or services are provided to company expectations.
  • Monitor finished good & component inventory levels to support on-time delivery of quality products.
  • Prepare procurement plans for review & approval based on historical trends, current backlog, and forecasted orders.
  • Proactively identify trends in slow-moving products/parts and execute plans to liquidate, reconfigure/repurpose or scrap to minimize unfavorable P&L impact.
  • Support assessment of domestic & offshore sourcing to improve blended cost structure while ensuring on-hand availability for volume bursts of high velocity parts.
  • Maintain effective 3PL relationship for accurate, timely & cost-effective shipping.
  • Submit & resolve freight claims as notified by Customer Accounts Team (damaged/lost product, undelivered/misdelivered/late orders)
  • Work closely with customer service and sales teams to ensure on time delivery, proper communication of backorders, and correct ship dates.
  • Work closely with warehouse to ensure on time shipments, inventory counts/management, incoming material, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to reduce non-value-added efforts, improve overall company performance, and launch of new products.
  • Track performance against VAVE projects (in lining, PLS, common or lower cost parts, packing mods, etc.) to achieve annual cost savings targets.

  • Building Trusting Relationships: Utilizes effective interpersonal styles to establish strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams, fostering openness and trust to build confidence in one's intentions.
  • Operational Decision-Making: Gathers and compares information from multiple sources to identify business issues, weighing alternative solutions and committing to decisions that align with critical priorities.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Works cooperatively with others, sharing information in an engaging, timely, and effective manner to achieve goals.
  • Conflict Resolution: Focuses on solutions, staying composed and results-oriented to gain agreement on resolution plans.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Communication or Engineering. A Six Sigma Green or Black Belt preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience within a business to business and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in inventory planning/forecasting and purchasing within a business to business or manufacturing environment
  • Experience in and application of continuous improvement principles.
  • Strong negotiation skills and examples of negotiating contracts and supplier programs.
  • Computer literacy with PowerPoint, Excel (v lookups, x lookups) and Word is required. ERP experience required.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work rapidly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Troubleshooting/problem-solving/critical thinking skills
  • Must be able to be onsite one day per week in Milwaukee.
