Responsibilities

Our Global Sourcing Team enhances H-E-B customer shopping experience by exploring--and delivering incredible products for our customers. We search the world and our backyard to connect H-E-B with the right products from the right supplier through innovative, responsible solutions.

As a Sourcing Manager I, you'll support H-E-B's strategic initiative by executing on sourcing domestic and import items / suppliers to increase profit margins and providing a competitive advantage. You'll serve as a subject matter expert.

What is the work?
Management / Compliance:
- Manages international and domestic supplier relations and negotiations, including spend (net landed cost)
- Conducts RFx events; negotiates / implements high dollar purchase agreements
- Assists in development of 5-year sourcing plans; ensures execution of roadmaps to achieve financial targets
- Serves as SME between internal / external stakeholders, including multiple-level leaders across H-E-B
- Independently locates / creates / implements cost-saving activities
- Understands / uses FOREX program
- Applies understanding of / articulates H-E-B Sourcing goals and objectives
- Participates in product quality efficiency / improvement while reducing lead-times, inventory, and cost
- Participates in planning, executing, and overseeing major trade shows (e.g., ANUGA, SIAL Toronto, PLMA, Amsterdam, ANTAD Guadalajara)
- Applies understanding of the complexities of global trade related to import tariffs, antidumping, currency fluctuations and their impact on cost of goods
- Influences W&T plans, including negotiation of all associated costs; ensures logistic efficiency through INCO terms, use of third-party warehousing, consolidated loads, etc.
- Develops specific plans for assigned product lines with BDMs
- Provides comparisons on new product performance / initial projections
- Collaborates with various departments (e.g., Supply Chain, Procurement, Own Brand, QA)
- Plans / executes specialized sourcing events (e.g., Central Market Passport, CIAO Italia, Quest for Texas Best)
- Actively participates in developing strategies, processes, possibilities for distinctive, exclusive, innovative products
- Supports BDMs in improving businesses through enhanced processes and detailed financial analysis and interpretation
- Applies understanding of product classifications to comply with U.S. CBP rules
- Applies understanding of / adheres to FDA, USDA, OFAC, Financial Action Task Force (FATF), and CPB import restrictions
- Performs Sourcing Mgr Associate duties

What is your background?
- A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience
- 2+ years of work / H-E-B experience
- Experience in international trade
- Fluency in multiple languages

Do you have what it takes to be a fit as a Sourcing Manager for H-E-B?
- Working knowledge of MS Office, database query tools, and internal software (e.g., OMI, HIVEMIND, Scout, BI)
- Strong understanding of global dynamics (e.g., currency fluctuation, tariff changes, country dynamics, cultural differences, business-related legislation) and international travel and etiquette
- Strong verbal / written communication skills
- Decision-making skills
- Ability to understand profit / cost figures
- Ability to adapt work approaches and techniques to different personalities
- Ability to manage / pivot between competing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to maintain trust and credibility through consistent words and actions
- Ability to identify and select effective solutions from alternatives / options
